Tutorial: HOW TO Create, Modify and Assign Materials in Deep Exploration

June 16, 2011

Hi !
In this week’s tutorial we are going to learn on how to create and assign materials to objects in Deep Exploration and we are also going to learn on working with basic material properties as well.
Materials are composed of composite layers that reflect the material properties. Materials can be controlled in a number of ways using the Materials folder, Materials panel, Display menu, and Object and Material Properties dialogs. The Materials panel displays the materials as thumbnails. You can choose to display the scene’s default material, or any other materials that have been applied to the scene’s objects. A right-click menu is available from where you can perform various material functions including creating new materials, removing unused materials, and merging duplicate materials.

Please tell me if there is a possibility to assign more than one material to an object? I need some faces of the part to look different. In real life I have a metal channel, with its outer faces painted. Inner faces are not. How can I do it in Deep Exploration?
Please, email me the copy of answer.

      Hi Konstantine,

Glad to receive your blog comment. !
You can use the “Select Surface” option in “Mesh Select” dialog box to select individual surface of a 3D part then apply the required material.
I have emailed you with the relevant screen shot.

        Madan, thank you very much!
It’s such a shame for me, becouse I tried this method before, but, somehow, I failed to assign material to the surface. Now everythig works perfect.
